Car, Truck, Bus, and Train Crashes:

Over 30 years ago, Elden Rosenthal handled the first case in the Oregon Supreme Court that allowed victims of drunk drivers to bring claims for injury and death against taverns and bars that over-serve alcohol to their patrons. Legal Malpractice:
We represent people who have been harmed by the professional malpractice of their attorneys. Over the past 30 years, we have negotiated numerous confidential settlements of cases arising from legal malpractice involving litigation, estate planning, land use, tax, bankruptcy, and other subject areas.
Representative cases include a $1.5 million settlement arising from illegal pre-bankruptcy asset manipulation, an $825,000 settlement for illegal post-death estate planning, a $729,420 verdict for a delay in completing a settlement, a $475,000 settlement for the poor handling of an environmental cleanup claim, and a $332,000 settlement for a father's loss of one year of custody and visitation with his son.
Medical Malpractice:
We represent victims of medical and nursing home negligence. Over the past 30 years, we have negotiated numerous confidential settlements of cases arising from failure to diagnose cancer and other conditions, surgical mistakes, nursing errors, and other medical negligence.
In 2006, we won a $5.75 million verdict for failure to diagnose breast cancer.

Important civil rights cases include a $12.5 million verdict against a neo-Nazi organization arising from the beating death of an Ethiopian living in Portland, a $2 million settlement arising from a false fingerprint identification by the FBI, a $2 million settlement for two men wrongly convicted of murder in Eugene, a $700,000 settlement for an elderly woman assaulted by a bus driver, and a $667,000 settlement for a victim of sexual abuse by a Eugene police officer.
Sexual Misconduct:
We have successfully settled claims arising from sexual misconduct by medical and legal professionals, workplace supervisors, police officers, and others. Cases of this sort are always confidential.
